Top of the week to you!

In today’s edition, we explore the power of the "Simulation"
We spend a massive amount of energy reacting to "realities" that are actually just internal simulations. Whether it's the fear of a new project or the exhaustion of a bad night’s sleep, our perception often dictates our performance more than the raw facts do. Here’s what’s in
Placebo Sleep: Why lying to yourself is a valid cognitive enhancement.
Micro-Steps: The mechanical solution to paralyzing fear.
The Synthetic Data Boom: Why the future of AI is being built on "fake" information.
🔥1. Kill fear with small steps
One way to beat fear is with steps so small they don't scare you.
As you get closer to fear, you realize there was never anything there to be afraid of.
🔥2. The "Golden Retriever" Advantage

It turns out that a delusional "Golden Retriever" mindset doesn't just make you more likable…it measurably changes your physiology.
Researchers at Colorado College told participants they had "above average" REM sleep based on a fake brain scan (regardless of how they actually slept).
It turns out that those told they slept well performed significantly better on cognitive tests (PASAT) than those told they slept poorly.
What do we take away from this? Your mindset can override your biological reality.
If you’ve slept badly, convince yourself you’re rested.
If you’ve had a stressful day, convince yourself it’s fuel.
And if you’ve failed at something, convince yourself it’s just useful data.
PE training trusted by Blackstone.
Wall Street Prep trains analysts inside Blackstone, KKR, and Carlyle. Now they've teamed up with Wharton Online to bring that same program to you over 8 weeks:
Join LIVE office hours with Wharton Business School faculty, to pressure-test your deal assumptions in real time
Earn a Wharton Online certificate in Private Equity (something more defensible than "I'm pretty good at Excel")
Get lifetime access to materials, events, and a network of 5,000+ professionals who are just as obsessed with deal flow as you are
Program starts June 8. Code SAVE300 saves $300 on tuition.

4. Social Wisdom
“No matter how isolated you are and how lonely you feel, if you do your work truly and conscientiously, unknown friends will come and seek you.” - Carl Jung
5. What’s trending

What’s trending: synthetic data (potential $6.1b market)
We are running out of "real" human data to train AI. Apparently, the solution lies in a new-ish concept: synthetic data generation (AI-powered creation of artificial datasets that mirror real-world patterns without compromising privacy).
This exists because 40% of pros struggle with masking private info. Synthetic data creates "fictional" customers that retain 100% of the salient behavior patterns.
One practical use of synthetic data is in medicine. Classifiers trained on synthetic medical scans show no statistical difference in performance compared to those trained on real ones.
The Market: Currently $310M, it’s projected to explode to $6.1B by 2043 (35% CAGR).
How you can cash in from the trend
Niche Synthetic Data Shops: Gartner predicts 75% of businesses will use synthetic customer data this year. There is a massive opening for "Synthetic Data as a Service" for highly regulated industries (Law, HIPAA-compliant healthcare, Defense).
Green AI Consultancy: Data centers are set to consume more power than almost every country on earth. Organizations are desperate for "Green AI" frameworks to limit environmental impact while hitting their UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Governance: 80% of large firms now have AI policies, but mid-market companies (50–500 employees) don’t tend to. Building a "Policy-in-a-Box" for AI ethics and governance is a high-demand B2B service.
Did this motivate you?
That’s it for this week.
